… It all started 45 years ago when I was learning the art of keeping honey bees. I always wanted to start my own business and then I was fired from my employer after 24 years. This was the motivation to start anew with the idea that was brewing in my mind for 45 years and my wife and I began Honey Lake Bee Co.

… It’s really hard at the beginning when you are full of doubt if that’s going to work at all. In my opinion and experience, the most important thing is persistence. It takes some time to see the results of your work but that’s with almost everything. You have to believe in yourself and what you do. The biggest motivation I receive from my customers.

… Maybe it is strange for some people but as I have a lot of other obligations to do, I don’t want to make a big business with my passion and don’t want to include other people in this little family business… it would turn into work with no pleasure. Then everything loses its meaning and turns into money. This is what I don’t want to happen.

… When you are considering keeping the environment clean and healthy you need to consider everything that is responsible for the environment not just a little bit clean it all or nothing really. Finding people that care about what they do is a task, to start with but when you know what it is that you actually need to do it to it is easier to guide yourself to the right people.

… First, I started to make my wall clocks on my balcony actually still making them in it 🙂 you must see! its only two square meters 🙂 I am still mostly making wall clocks now, but when the work got more intense, we started to collaborate in production with my artist friend from whom I bought my raw materials in order to keep up with the orders.

… We are working on wood. We work with pine trees, spruce trees, walnut, and many types of trees. I usually use AutoCAD for my drawings. I think there are a variety and color options that highlight my products. We also offer size and many customization options as we manufacture it entirely by ourselves.

… Currently, I sell wooden wick, soy blend candles that I hand pour in my own home. I hope to expand one day to more products, however, it is a lot of work for two people. I thoroughly test a product before launching to ensure that it is a good, quality product. I spend many long hours every day making candles as I get orders.
