What products do you sell, what type of materials are used in your creations, how do you design your products, what makes your products stand out?
I sell handmade Moroccan carpets, they are made by hand and natural wool with 100% natural materials such as saffron, henna, and natural colors such as Indico, a naturally blue color …. and also herbs and all of this. Wash it three times and work in the sun for five months more or less, and after that, it is ready for the market and sale.
How was your experience in learning to craft, are you self-taught or did you have a mentor, how long did it take for you to be satisfied with your creations?
It is my family that makes my mother and sisters and all my family the main source of livelihood is in making carpets. I grew up with this field, not by myself, but I develop and market it not only for my family but for many families.
What was your original goal when you opened up an Etsy shop? What impacted your decision to start selling online? Do you consider online selling as a side-job, full-time job, or extra income to pay for your hobby?
The goal of Etsy or of working online, in general, is to work without limits and no ceiling. I have goals and big dreams. It is very attractive and sure working online will be among the distinguished solutions to achieve my goals and brief.
Did you have any fears or reservations before opening up your Etsy shop? Were you worried about profitability or product competitiveness? What are some concerns and questions you had before you got started? How did you overcome them?
I do not have any fear and certainly the competition I enjoy, because it is what makes us develop our business and our products, and for sure the excellence in the product and the management will be the best, and I am satisfied with that and on the contrary, I learn from good competitors.
How long did it take for you to get your first sale? Did you ever think you would make a lot of sales in the first year? What was the goal you were hoping for? How many sales an average you get per week?
I did not take much time to get the first sale, in the first year I focused on my store to be ready from all sides with products and to build a wonderful team and excellent service to satisfy customers This is important in the beginning. As for the results, we will certainly achieve great results that are attractive and we will be the best and our advantage is mastery and charity.

What is the biggest impact on the profitability of your shop? How expensive are the materials you use? How do you price your products?
Almost because the carpets do not have a single price that varies from one to another and according to the demand in the market, but almost the ones that make them take 40% to 50% and sure all of them are women barbers, and middlemen also earn almost 20% for the carpets that I do not make with the women I work with As for what I am making, there are no intermediaries, and the rest remains for marketing expenses … and for us and my team this is only close, not 100% accurate.
What inspires you when you’re creating? How do you get ideas for new products? What are some methods or tools you use to get creative?
Creativity is part of myself and my identity. Either how do I get new ideas, it is possible from a real story or from an influential view or a painting. Any situation from which it is possible to make impressive and expressive carpets. And for the wonderful people who live from it, it is the source of their day and their families.
