… After college, I took a job as an estimator in a cabinet shop specializing in custom woodworking. I’d always enjoyed working with my hands, but being surrounded by like-minded individuals and seeing the engineering and production inspired me to try my own hand at woodworking. I started small by making bottle openers and other small tchotchkes before graduating to larger furniture pieces.
… I think the winning formula is to not think of anyone’s expectations. Don’t be scared & realize that you have absolutely nothing to lose. Just create what you want to create. Realize that if your work makes you happy, it’ll make others happy. It’s better to have tried than to never have tried at all. Basically, do what makes you happy.
… Of course, my best selling products are the cat prints. I have a number of landscape prints, but they are not that popular. I have quite a few different images of cats: for the bathroom, for the kitchen, for the living room, for the nursery, and even for the office. They are all popular, they are all sold regularly. I focus on a quality product: for printing, I use high-quality watercolor paper from one of the world-famous brands.
… My best selling product is My bumblebee, hand-drawn and made by my own hands here at home. My stamps are now made from resin and I draw the designs when I feel inspired, that’s mostly with the change of seasons. I also have a monthly subscription box, for this, I design a new image every month and I take inspiration from nature, mostly plants.
… I don’t think there is only one way of being a successful entrepreneur, this process will look different for everyone! For me there are multiple formulas, the important thing is to have the right balance. Finding out what you want to do I believe would be the first step, like really figuring out your niche and giving it your unique touch.
… My best selling product is with no doubt my Embroidery Floss Kit for embroidery and friendship bracelets. This kit besides the book, it comes with 100 colors of embroidery floss, each color has 8 yards and 6 strands. They come wrapped on plastic bobbins with DMC numbers, this way, if you need more floss to finish a work, you can always find the same color just following its numbers.
… I truly enjoy making things that people love and finding that space, the negotiation between what people want and what you think they should want, is the most engaging work a person can do. The hardest thing about being an entrepreneur is probably also one of the coolest things: total self-ownership. If you’re doing great, you earned that feeling of accomplishment.
… A couple of years ago I read an article about the Rough Country Rustic Furniture Company that caught my attention. While the article was not in favor of the company, it included a photograph of a beautiful bedroom set, and let’s face it, no publicity is bad publicity, right? I researched the company further and I fell in love with their designs as well as their execution on most products.
… We remember the first sale very well – we thought what a brave person who is ordering something from ar away country somewhere in Northern Europe. Everything went well then, so we continue. Only natural Baltic amber is used for our malas. simple 🙂 sometimes our clients ask to create wood or stone malas for them – and we do so. But amber is an absolute winner.
