… Hand-crafted products are expensive to make because of the time that goes into making them. In addition, the UK guidelines are really strict in quality control of wood products, so we can’t and don’t want to cut costs there. But we hope when volumes increase we will be able to cut some of the other costs such as transportation and storage etc.
… I’m actually retired on disability. I am able to spend as much time as I want developing my store. Currently, I spend my day evaluating new fashion design programs and I believe I found one that I want to purchase next year for my store so that I can expand my clothing line and into jackets and other types of clothing and accessories. Our frames are all hand-made to order with FSC regulated wood and the same goes for our mounts.
… It has certainly been challenging but I just see the whole experience as a learning experience that keeps me both motivated and happy. When things go right it is great. When things go wrong it’s a great opportunity to learn why and realize it is just part of the experience. What keeps me grounded is not taking the whole thing too seriously.
… Our products are all made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. I have carefully chosen the weave and thickness of the fabric to ensure it is not only easy to wrap with but will also be durable enough to last a lifetime. All our designs are exclusive to FabRap. I personally design each print we use.
… Even if I sell other accessories such as wallets, the planner is my specialty. Customers know that they will find originality and beautiful materials like cork, which is loved by people who care about the health of our planet, animals, and society. But as cork is beautiful, it also pleases for its authentic look and deep colors. I also use imitation leather because it offers a fancy style, a sparkling look.
